Districts urge chancellor to reverse disproportionate cuts burden

The forthcoming Budget must recognise that district councils have borne a disproportionate share of local government funding cuts since 2015, leaders have warned.

Speaking after handing the District Councils Network's (DCN) pre-budget submission to the Treasury, the network's finance lead, Cllr Sharon Taylor, said: ‘Districts have punched above their weight in terms of savings made through shared services but have also faced the biggest reduction in their spending power since 2015 compared to other types of councils.
