The leader of Essex CC, Cllr Peter Martin, has announced he will not stand for re-election in May.

Cllr Martin has been a member at the county for 24 years, the last three as leader. He took over from the former leader, Lord Hanningfield, when the peer was forced to step down over his parliamentary expenses.
