Last week I had the privilege to sit on a national cross-sector board to consider how we make public sector finance an attractive career for our nation's budding financiers. 

Local government and the wider public sector have a poor reputation. I often hear suppliers saying things like: ‘Good enough for government work'. Is this something they say without thinking, or is there a reality to their perception based on what they see?
