The ‘very real problems' facing social care employers should be addressed through sustainable funding rather than tinkering with immigration rules, the Government's Migration Advisory Committee has warned.

In a report, commissioned by home secretary Priti Patel, examining ministerial plans for a points-based immigration system with a minimum salary threshold of £30,000, the committee acknowledged the social care sector's current recruitment and retention problems.
