More financial freedom should be devolved to cities to fully realise the ambition of levelling them up, Manchester City Council chief executive Joanne Roney has said.

More financial freedom should be devolved to cities to fully realise the ambition of levelling them up, Manchester City Council chief executive Joanne Roney has said.

Speaking at the The MJ Future Forum North in Manchester this afternoon, Ms Roney, who is also president of chief executives' organisation Solace, said cities could ‘could go much further' were they enabled to retain the income they generated.
