We are getting warmer on climate change

The Government needs to apply the same problem solving to climate change as it has to tackling the pandemic, says Kathy O'Leary.

We may not have found a solution to the problem of climate change yet, but we're definitely getting warmer…

The Queen's Speech reaffirmed the Government's aim to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050. This followed the Prime Minister's commitment to cut emissions by 78% before 2035 in the run-up to the November COP26 Summit in Glasgow. However, although more than half the emissions cuts needed to achieve this rely on decisions taken at the local and individual level by people and businesses, there is no overall plan for how councils fit into delivering net zero. That means we are all busy working it out for ourselves.
