Government could buy up fire risk buildings

The Government has not ruled out compulsorily purchasing buildings with serious fire safety defects if the pace of remediation remains too slow.

In a response to a select committee report, the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) said it was ‘unacceptable' that more than three years on from the Grenfell tragedy some buildings have not started remediation.
