Government must set out its case on remote meetings

Even if the answer is a reasoned ‘no’, local government deserves the courtesy of being told the Government's position on remote council meetings, says Ian Miller.

District councils – like the rest of local government – continue to experience the vice-like grip of centralism.

The local government minister finds time to threaten intervention about the working arrangements of a district council's staff, but he and his colleagues refuse to act on changes most councils support.
