For the first time in history our Prime Minister is a former elected mayor and he reportedly plans to govern in the way he ran London. So after three years of stagnation, could urban issues be set for a return to the policy agenda?

Mayor Boris Johnson was a champion of city devolution and we expect this will continue now he is PM. The signs are positive; he told a hustings that he supported more local devolution and went to Manchester shortly after his appointment to set out an ambitious agenda for rebalancing the economy, which included devolving to cities. He should now make good on this by giving cities more control over how they raise and spend money.
