Growing pains

Tom Stannard says the Government’s focus on growth has got off to a promising start, but the case for putting economic development on a statutory footing is stronger than ever. Ann McGauran reports.

Chancellor Rachel Reeves announced last week that she is willing to borrow more to get Britain building.

Her words ahead of today's much-anticipated Budget are bound to have delighted the chair of the Institute of Economic Development (IED) Tom Stannard.
