Hampshire split as county U-turns on mayor decision

A split has emerged among local authorities in Hampshire after the county council leader U-turned on the decision to reject an elected mayor for the region, The MJ understands.

A split has emerged among local authorities in Hampshire after the county council leader U-turned on the decision to reject an elected mayor for the region, The MJ understands.

Earlier this month Hampshire CC leader Roy Perry publicly rejected the idea of a mayor for the region but he has now reversed his position after a number of southern districts showed an interest in forming a 'super unitary'.
