Joining forces to tackle sexual exploitation

Child sexual exploitation cannot be tackled by local government alone and councils are undertaking innovative partnership work to address this serious problem. But Government plans could detract focus from the issue, writes Dave Hill

Child sexual exploitation (CSE) is organised, criminal activity by groups or gangs to perpetrate abuse. It is not limited to a particular geography, gender or a single model of perpetration and it has a damaging impact on victims, their families and entire communities.

Ofsted, HMI Constabulary, HMI Probation and the Care Quality Commission recently reported on local responses on CSE and missing children based on findings from the deep dive aspect of five joint-targeted area inspections.
