Responding to the needs of child asylum seekers

Local authorities are working hard to support unaccompanied asylum seeking children but swift action from government is needed to tackle unsustainable pressures, says Dave Hill

This year's National Children and Adult Services (NCAS) conference in Manchester was a great opportunity for professionals across the sector, including directors of adults and children's services, elected members and voluntary sector colleagues, to share good practice and discuss the challenges we face each and every day.

Whatever issues we face as a sector it is important to remember that ‘the whole is greater than the sum of its parts' and we can achieve much more for our communities together than in isolation.
