Nottingham City Council has appointed Katherine Kerswell as its interim chief executive while the city searches for a full time candidate for the post.

She will replace outgoing chief executive Ian Curryer, who leaves at the end of the month after 20 years at the council. He has been appointed chair of Children First Northamptonshire, the county's children's trust, by the secretary of state for education.
