Financial irregularities in the tendering of contracts by Lancashire CC continue to be investigated by police, almost 20 months after they launched an inquiry.

Asked about the length of the investigation, a Lancashire Constabulary spokeswoman said it was ‘really complex' but insisted it remained ‘ongoing'.
