Number of late auditor opinions increases

The proportion of council accounts that auditors were unable to issue timely opinions on has increased to 4%, according to the latest Public Sector Audit Appointments (PSAA) report.

The proportion of council accounts that auditors were unable to issue timely opinions on has increased to 4%, according to the latest Public Sector Audit Appointments (PSAA) report.

Some 16 councils did not receive opinions by the statutory 30 September publication date - up from 11 councils the previous year - because of ‘technical accounting issues' and ‘various errors identified during the audit'.
