The leader of East Dorset DC resigned before a vote on whether to merge four local authorities in the region.

The leader of East Dorset DC resigned before a vote on whether to merge four local authorities in the region.

Ian Monks, who was in favour of creating a unitary, quit before councillors voted 20 to 8 against combining with Poole Council, Christchurch BC and Bournemouth Council.
