LGA announces staff costs after top-slice cuts

Smith Square to slash more than 37 posts as a result of further in-year funding cuts announced at time of March Budget.

 The Local Government Association (LGA) has announced it will cut 37.5 posts in a bid to cut costs after central government slashed its budget.

The Government announced suddenly in March that the association's top-slice cash would fall by £2m from 1 April, as part of the Budget. The announcement – with just ten days notice before it came into force – came on top of the £1.5m of top-slice money the LGA had already lost.
