The Government has declined an offer by the Local Government Association (LGA) to host talks on how to fund social care.

Health and social care secretary Matt Hancock has said that reaching a cross-party consensus on a new funding system, as proposed in the Conservative manifesto, remained the favoured approach despite securing a hefty majority in the House of Commons in last month's General Election.
