LGA: Children's mental health services need complete overhaul

Council leaders have demanded ‘root and branch’ reforms of children’s mental health services amid warnings that thousands of vulnerable children are being turned away.

Council leaders have demanded ‘root and branch' reforms of children's mental health services amid warnings that thousands of vulnerable children are being turned away.

Following the Government's announcement last week that it would launch a green paper by the end of the year, the chair of the Local Government Association children and young people board, Cllr Richard Watts, said currently the mental health system ‘says no rather than yes to children when they ask for help'.
