LGA satisfaction up but value for money low

While council representatives vastly agreed the Local Government Association (LGA) performed its key functions, far fewer were pleased with the cost of membership.

More than four-fifths of respondents to the Local Government Association's (LGA) perception survey believed Smith Square defended the reputation of the sector and addressed key issues but just 56% felt they were receiving value for money.

There was also a big difference in perception between 'frontline' and backbench councillors as just 50% of backbenchers thought the cost of the LGA was value for money.
