New research aims to understand the drivers of recent hikes in violent crime involving young people in Greater Manchester as perpetrators and victims – and has come up with insights and recommendations. Ann McGauran reports.

First things first. Most violent crime is not committed by young people, and the vast majority of young people are not involved in violent crime.

But there is some evidence that the proportions of both are rising across England. The trend for Greater Manchester is even more disturbing.
