Top local government mandarin to leave ministry

Dame Melanie Dawes has been confirmed as the new chief executive of Ofcom.

Dame Melanie Dawes has been confirmed as the new chief executive of Ofcom.

She will leave her position as permanent secretary at the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government to take up her new role at the broadcasting regulator next month.
