Middlesbrough Council has agreed to have an independent improvement advisory board for a year from October, The MJ understands.

Middlesbrough Council has agreed to have an independent improvement advisory board for a year from October, The MJ understands.

It comes after talks between the council, the Local Government Association (LGA) and the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC), which issued a Best Value notice in January after ministers expressed ‘concern' over the council's ‘capacity to comply' with its statutory guidance.
