Minister: All options exhausted in hunt for social care solution

Minister Gillian Keegan has claimed ‘every single option was looked at’ before the Government considered raising National Insurance to pay for health and social care.

Minister Gillian Keegan has claimed ‘every single option was looked at' before the Government considered raising National Insurance (NI) to pay for health and social care.

Speaking at a fringe event at the Conservative Party conference, she claimed the NI rise was deemed to be ‘fair' as businesses pay too and the public trusted it would be ring-fenced.
