Education secretary Nicky Morgan has attempted to appease dissenting Tory councillors and MPs concerned the Government is ‘railroading through' school reforms.

In a letter to the Conservative Councillors' Association, seen by The MJ, Ms Morgan maintained there would still be a ‘crucial role' for local authorities in a post-academisation education system.
