MPs defended council chief executives after Ofsted boss Sir Michael Wilshaw claimed they were to blame for failing children’s services.

MPs defended council chief executives after Ofsted boss Sir Michael Wilshaw claimed they were to blame for failing children's services.

The inspectorate stamped a quarter of local authority children's services with an ‘inadequate' rating, which Sir Michael said was ‘certainly not good enough'.
