Local authorities must be given the funding and powers to tackle air pollution after it emerged almost half breached air quality regulations last year, a senior Conservative MP has urged.

Local authorities must be given the funding and powers to tackle air pollution after it emerged almost half breached air quality regulations last year, a senior Conservative MP has urged.  

Using official data, the chairman of the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee, Neil Parish, revealed that 169 councils violated air quality limits in 2015.
