'We need to myth-bust here'

As the sector heads to Bournemouth for the National Children and Adult Services (NCAS) conference this week, Ann McGauran talks to Rachel Dickinson about how the country’s young are faring 30 years after the seminal 1989 Children Act.

Statistics  tell us that this country has one of the safest child protection systems in the world, according to Rachel Dickinson.

But Ms Dickinson, who took on the presidency of the Association of  Directors of Children's Services (ADCS) in April, believes that while we've made great progress in the 30 years since the 1989 Children Act, that progress is at risk because of poverty.
