Clear objectives needed for levelling up

Central Government needs to set clear objectives for national programmes like levelling up, says chief executive of the Centre for Cities think-tank, Andrew Carter.

In the context of levelling up, the National Audit Office and the House of Commons' Public Accounts Committee has raised serious questions over the delivery of local economic development projects in recent months.

The National Audit Office's verdict was that more time and funding will be needed to evaluate the impact of existing levelling up funds.
