Official figures show thousands deterred by voter ID

About 14,000 people were unable to vote at polling stations in the May elections due to ID requirements while ‘significantly more’ did not even try.

About 14,000 people were unable to vote at polling stations in the May elections due to ID requirements while ‘significantly more' did not even try.

Concerns have also been raised the policy may have disproportionately affected some ethnic minorities, disabled people and the unemployed.
