Porter: Blame must be ours

LGA chairman tells Public Accounts Committee councils must not pass the buck to ministers if devolution fails.

Councils must take the blame and not pass the buck to ministers if devolved services fail, the chairman of the Local Government Association (LGA) has insisted.

Public accounts committee chair Meg Hillier argued the Government should not be absolved of accountability when passing down money and powers to local areas.
