Portsmouth no longer taking in asylum seeking children

The council is providing support to three times its quota of children.

Portsmouth City Council is no longer taking in unaccompanied asylum-seeking children (UASC) as it grapples with providing support to three times its quota.

The situation reached crisis point during the summer as 22 children arrived in the city in a little over a month, leaving it with 96 to support through its care system.
