'Don't punish the devo undecided'

Regions that have yet to fully embrace devolution should not be ‘penalised’ when Whitehall doles out the next round of growth deal funding, a vice-chair of the Local Government Association (LGA) has pleaded.

Regions that have yet to fully embrace devolution should not be ‘penalised' when Whitehall doles out the next round of growth deal funding, a vice-chair of the Local Government Association (LGA) has pleaded.

A letter from communities secretary Greg Clark, seen by The MJ, revealed that bids for a slice of £1.8bn which ‘aligned with mayoral combined authorities or proposed combined authorities will have an advantage'.
