While the country is on the final countdown to the 2012 Olympic Games, I'm sure I'm not the only finance chief putting the finishing touches to the budget planning timetable for 2013 onwards.

We all know the end date is early next February but, unlike the Olympics, it's difficult to predict precisely when the ‘racing' will start.
