'A roadmap towards a good society'

Sir Michael Marmot’s damning report on health inequalities found that, while there has been limited action by Government, many local authorities have taken forward the recommendations outlined in his 2010 review. Ann McGauran reports.

Ten years ago the landmark Marmot Review proposed an evidence-based strategy for reducing health inequalities in England.

It concluded there is a social gradient in the proportion of life spent in ill health, and that tackling health inequalities needed activity across all the social determinants of health.
