Rutnam: A lesson for all of local government

Sir Philip Rutnam's resignation speech at the weekend may have come as a surprise to the public but, for the average local government watcher, it is all too familiar.

Following allegations of bullying by home secretary, Priti Patel, Sir Philip has resigned and vowed to sue for constructive dismissal – albeit after his initial instinct to stand by his political master.
