Local authority representatives have called for extended powers to raise the multiplier as part of 100% business rate retention.

Giving evidence to the communities and local government committee last night, Boston BC's business rates assurance manager Andy Hall said the power to lower business rates would not be useful on its own, insisting it should ‘go hand in hand with the power to raise rates'.
