Seven steps to social care improvement

The social care green paper announcement has reinforced the work that needs to be done to make the system work. Sam Clayden explains.

‘Person-centred care means nothing if the individual's choice and control is undermined by a lack of high-quality services to provide the support they need.'

Spoken by health and social care secretary Jeremy Hunt last week as he unveiled seven key principles for the social care green paper, these words perhaps sum up the frustrations of local authorities, who know what needs to be done, but do not have the funding to do it.
