Sign-off 'too prohibitive' for combined authority LEPs

Requiring sign-off from multiple local enterprise partnerships (LEP) before raising an infrastructure tax could be ‘too prohibitive’ for combined authorities spanning large areas, according to a business rates working group.

Requiring sign-off from multiple local enterprise partnerships (LEP) before raising an infrastructure tax could be ‘too prohibitive' for combined authorities spanning large areas, according to a business rates working group.

Under government plans, combined authority mayors will be given the power to levy a 2% supplement on business rate bills to fund infrastructure projects.
