'Slow' progress council to create children's services company

Reading Council has announced plans to transfer its failing children’s services to a council-owned company after inspectors noted improvements were not happening fast enough.

Reading Council has announced plans to transfer its failing children's services to a council-owned company after inspectors noted improvements were not happening fast enough. 

Council leader Jo Lovelock said the local authority would ‘hold the company to account for performance,' adding: ‘Every organisation involved in children services in Reading accepts the pace of improvement is not quick enough.
