Social care crisis linked to rapidly rising death rates

A think-tank has warned of the impacts of the burgeoning health and social care crisis after figures revealed the number of people dying in England and Wales has increased at its fastest rate in nearly 50 years.

A think-tank has warned of the impacts of the burgeoning health and social care crisis after figures revealed the number of people dying in England and Wales has increased at its fastest rate in nearly 50 years. 

The Local Government Information Unit (LGiU) has called for urgent further research as preliminary figures from the Office of National Statistics showed death rates rose by 5.4% last year – the equivalent of almost 27,000 more deaths.
