Proposals to create a unitary authority in Somerset have been labelled 'dangerous, unwarranted and unnecessary' by one of the county's MPs.

Somerset CC leader, Cllr David Fothergill, is looking at replacing Somerset's six councils with one or more single-tier unitary authorities.
