Few spectacles have been less attractive in recent weeks than the hypocritical, dishonest and politically-motivated attacks on the Government planning reforms by the National Trust and the Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE).

The National Trust is run by veteran ‘Quangocrat' Sir Simon Jenkins, who has never been elected to anything, but expects politicians to cater for his every whim when he clicks his fingers.
