A split between Hampshire councils could lead to the creation of a Solent combined authority, leaving the rest of the county without a deal, The MJ understands.

The proposed pan-Hampshire and Isle of Wight deal may now fall flat after representatives from Southampton, Portsmouth, Fareham, Havant, East Hampshire and Isle of Wight councils met with the Treasury to discuss a Solent deal.
