Re-stitching a brighter future

Robin Tuddenham says that for levelling up to be truly effective it must be led by those who are completely attuned to the unique needs and wants of each local area and leadership must come from local government.

The importance of re-stitching our social fabric – the networks and institutions that bind people and communities together – in order to address the myriad challenges we as a country face was the focus of a recent national conference held in Halifax, in my district of Calderdale, and at which I spoke.

For all of the discussion and debate around what flows out of the Government's Levelling Up White Paper, a commitment to achieving the overarching fundamental aim of rebalancing the country and equalising life chances is something that cuts across the party divide.
