We need to support communities and colleagues through the cost of living crisis

Chief executive of London Councils Alison Griffin says it is important to acknowledge that within our own organisations we have colleagues who are struggling with the impact of rising costs, who may never have needed help before.

The winter of hardship that is fast- approaching has many contributing factors.

We may disagree on the causes, but I think we can all agree local government will be front and centre in the important work needed to get our communities through it all, drawing on the trusted partnerships, local knowledge and resilience that are our sector's hallmarks.
