Ian Miller identifies worrying trends in the Government's drive towards standardisation of data

The Government is ploughing ahead with implementation of a single, digital register of local land charges following the Infrastructure Act.

The Land Registry will operate it but it will depend on local government – including district councils – to transfer existing and future information to the new nationalised system. I leave to one side the Government's plans, announced in the Budget, to privatise the Land Registry.
