How can we build services around the family asks Nina Dawes.

The report of the Select Committee on Social Care warns that the complexity of having different organisations covering health, care and housing is inefficient and leads to poorer outcomes for older people. Their recipe is for Government to establish a single Commissioner for each area.

Directing resources in a cohesive way with the focus on the client/customer/patient is at the heart of the issue. It's proved elusive for the children's agenda where we are still trying to build the team around the child, and it's not yet been cracked for challenging/troubled families through Total Place or Community Budgets.
