The commissioners appointed to overturn mass failings within Tower Hamlets LBC did not achieve value for money, the council's mayor has suggested.

Giving evidence to the Communities and Local Government Committee, mayor John Biggs admitted there was a need for intervention but raised concerns over the fees commissioners received, which he estimated had cost the borough up to £300,000.
